Ernst Warschauer was born on May 26, 1889 in Breslau (now Wrocław, Poland). He was the oldest son of Sigismund Warschauer and Emma Warschauer, née Bernstein. In 1912 he received his doctorate in law from the University of Breslau. He married Agathe Karoline Rummler in 1919, whom he later divorced in 1935.
